Please watch this video, which demonstrates how to translate your entire assessment or individual questions within an assessment.
Translate your entire assessment:
When in your assessment in the "Create" tab, there will be a base language on the top left-hand corner.
Select the box and choose which language you would like to translate to .Once a language has been selected, you will see a confirmation modal with a notification letting you know that making the change may mean that question formatting will be lost.
Upon confirmation, you will be shown a progress modal whilst the translation takes place.
If question types are present that cannot be translated, like simulations or the typing test, a notification will occur on this modal, highlighting the question that won’t be translated.
When the assessment is translated → The translated Assessment Preview will be shown. In order to save this translation, you must click the Use Assessment button. Clicking on the X will revert the translation back to the original language.
What will be translated?
When you translate a question, the following elements are included:
Question description
Answer choices (Multiple Choice)
Examples of correct answers
Scoring or grading instructions
Translation of the assessment name, skill names, or skill groups is not currently included
Question Translation
Assessments can also be translated at the question level, meaning an assessment can be made up of multiple languages. This can be done by selecting the language drop-down on the question edit screen.
A modal will appear showing the translated content that can be saved by clicking Use
The language can also be changed from this modal by selecting the dropdown. A load screen will appear while the translation is in progress.
Assessment Translation: Creating an Assessment from Scratch
To create an assessment from scratch, follow the usual process for creating an assessment and choose the desired language.
-
Assessment language is required
Employers must choose a language when creating a new assessment.Only one language can be selected at a time.
English is preselected by default.
-
Creating an assessment from scratch
When you create an assessment from scratch:The system generates the standard list of empty question templates.
The assessment language is set based on your selection.
-
Adding existing questions (Suggested or Saved)
If the user adds a question from Suggested or Saved while an assessment language is set, the question will be translated into the assessment’s language (after user confirmation).
Creating a new question
When you create a new question, the assessment language is automatically preselected as the question’s language.-
Translating an individual question
If you manually translates a single question into another language (different from the assessment language):The assessment language will be reset to “no language” to avoid mismatches between assessment-level language and question-level language.
-
Selecting “Other” as the language
If you choose “Other” during assessment creation, the assessment is created without a defined language.Assessment language = null (not set)
-
Creating new questions
When the assessment has no language set and you creates a new question:The new question is also created without a language (language = null).
No translation is applied.
-
Adding questions from Suggested or Saved
When the assessment has no language set and the employer adds a question from Suggested or Saved:The question is added as-is, using the original content.
No translation is triggered.
Assessment Translation: Generating via the AI Builder
Create an assessment via the AI Builder and choose the language you wish.
-
What “Generate with selected language” means
All generated questions must be produced or translated into the same selected language. This applies to all question text content except for question types that cannot be translated (e.g., simulations, typing tests).
-
Handling non-translatable question types
If the GenAI Builder generates an assessment that includes even one non-translatable question type:The system cannot maintain a single consistent assessment language.
As a result, the assessment language is not set (language = null).
