There are three key ways to create a skills assessment with Vervoe:
- Use a pre-built library assessment
- Create an assessment from scratch
- Use the AI-assisted builder
Each method offers a different level of customisation and guidance depending on what you're looking for. This article focuses on the AI-assisted builder, which automatically generates assessments by mapping your job description to our dynamic skills taxonomy.
AI Assessment Builder Overview
The AI Assessment Builder creates tailored assessments for any role. By analysing your job description, it maps key skills to our dynamic skills taxonomy, built from real-world hiring and performance data. It then selects the most relevant, validated questions to test those skills in context—helping you hire faster and more accurately.
Understanding the Skills Taxonomy
Our dynamic skills taxonomy is the foundation of every AI-generated assessment. It’s a living framework that:
- Organises skills by role, level, and industry
- Prioritises skills based on real hiring data and performance outcomes
- Evolves continuously with feedback from employers, candidates, and industry trends
How It Works:
- Job Description Analysis: The AI reads your JD and identifies keywords, responsibilities, and required competencies.
- Skill Mapping: Keywords are mapped to our skills taxonomy, which groups skills into categories such as communication, problem solving, digital literacy, or leadership.
- Question Selection: For each skill, validated questions are chosen to assess candidates in context, ensuring they are tested on what matters most for the role.
Example of How Skills Mapping Works:
| JD Keyword/Responsibility | Mapped Skill Group | Sample Question Type |
|---|---|---|
| “Manage a small team” | Leadership | Written scenario question |
| “Analyse sales data” | Data Analysis | Excel spreadsheet question |
| “Create marketing materials” | Creativity | File upload or written response |
This process ensures that the assessment is skills-first, role-specific, and reflects real-world requirements.
