If you're having trouble recording your video or audio response, don’t worry—here are some quick and easy steps to help you resolve the issue.
Use the right device and browser
- We recommend using an updated desktop or laptop device and Google Chrome for best results.
- You can download Chrome here.
- If you're on a mobile device, search your app store for “Google Chrome”.
- Avoid using Internet Explorer, Safari, or outdated browsers.
- Ensure your system software is up to date before you start.
Check your equipment
- Use a built-in or external webcam and a working microphone.
- Make sure no other apps or browser extensions are using or blocking your camera or microphone (e.g. Zoom, Teams, browser plugins).
- You’ll be given the chance to test your camera and mic before the interview starts.
- Some employers require this test to be completed first—you won’t be able to start the interview until it's done.
Grant permissions
-
When prompted, allow Vervoe to access your camera and microphone in your browser.
-
After clicking “Record Video”, be sure to click the blue “Record” button at the bottom right to begin.
Refresh your browser
-
Try clearing your browser cache and history, then close all tabs, reopen Chrome, and log back in.
-
You can also try using a private/incognito window to rule out issues caused by cache or extensions.
🛠 Still seeing an error?
If you’ve already enabled access in your browser but are still encountering an error message, your device settings might be blocking access to your camera or microphone.
- For Apple/Mac devices, follow the instructions here.
