Extending a Candidate’s Deadline or Allowing Resubmission
Candidates are given a default of 4 days to complete their online skills assessment, unless updated in the settings prior to sending. An email reminder is automatically sent 48 hours before the deadline. See here to adjust deadline settings.
Extension Options
You have two options for extending a deadline. Both can be applied individually or in bulk.
General Extension (Same Duration as Original Deadline)
To grant extra time equal to the original deadline (e.g. an additional 4 days):
- Go to the Invite tab.
- Find the candidate in the Candidate section.
- Click the three-dot menu and select Extend.
What happens when you extend:
- The candidate receives an email notification.
- The full assessment deadline resets (e.g. another 4 days).
- All question timers are reset.
- All current answers are saved, allowing the candidate to continue or revise their responses.
Custom Deadline Extension (Set a Specific Date and Time)
To set a unique deadline for one candidate:
- Go to Settings > Time Limit and Deadline.
- Update the deadline to your preferred date and time.
⚠️ Note: Only candidates who are extended after this change will see the new deadline. All other candidates will still have the original deadline.
Candidate-Initiated Extension Requests
Candidates can also request additional time through their account. If a candidate’s assessment passes the deadline without submission, they will see an option to "request extension."
Extension Options:

Automatic Approval of the First Extension Request:
If a candidate is requesting an extension for the first time, their request will automatically be approved. This saves your team time by eliminating the need for manual review. -
Enable or Disable Extension Requests:
You can enable or disable the candidate's ability to request extensions. This option gives you control over how deadline extensions are handled.
Both of these extension settings can be configured under the Settings tab, in the Time Limit and Deadline section.
Managing Candidate-Initiated Requests:
- You will receive an in-app notification when a request is submitted.
- Candidates are required to provide a reason for their extension request.
- You can review the request and approve it via the three-dot menu under the candidate’s name.
Bulk Approvals:
- If multiple candidates request extensions, click on the number in the Extensions section in the top stats bar.
- You’ll have the option to approve all requests at once.
⚠️ Note: You can disable candidates ability to request extensions in the Assessment Settings.
Additional Information
Resubmissions
If a candidate needs to resubmit their assessment, you can extend their deadline. This will:
- Reset all timers.
- Retain their existing responses.
- Allow them to revise or complete their answers.
Extension Tracking
- Candidates who have received a deadline extension will be labelled with ‘Extension Received’ in both the Invite page and their Candidate Report Card.
