Question scoring in Vervoe is based on the value and effort required to complete each question type. Simulations, Code Challenges, Document Uploads, File Uploads, and Spreadsheets are worth a maximum of 10 points, while simpler questions, such as Multiple Choice, are worth a maximum of 3 points.
This approach improves the way candidate responses are graded and helps you hire with greater confidence.
Why Question Weighting Matters
Vervoe’s more immersive question types require greater effort from candidates and provide deeper insights into their skills. To reflect this, questions are weighted according to their complexity and the value of the response they provide.
Candidates who perform strongly on higher-weighted questions will naturally rank higher in the selection process, helping you identify the best fit for your role.
How Questions Are Weighted
You can find a breakdown of the question weightings below:
Please note:
-
Manual grading always overrides the AI score.
-
Candidates who are manually graded will not have their scores recalculated based on weighting.
Example: How Weighting Affects Scores
Consider an assessment with six questions:
- 3 x Simulations
- 1 x Video response
- 1 x Text response
- 1 x Multiple Choice
Without weighting:
Each question was worth 10 points.
If a candidate scored 8/10 on each, the overall score would be 80%.
With weighting:
If a candidate earns 80% of the maximum available points for each question, their overall percentage remains 80%, despite the differences in individual question weightings.
However:
-
If the candidate performs better on higher-weighted questions (e.g., Simulations), their final score increases (e.g., up to 84.49%).
-
If they perform worse on higher-weighted questions, their final score decreases.
Performance on the most valuable questions has the greatest impact on the final ranking.
