At Vervoe, we are committed to providing a fair and inclusive assessment process for all candidates. Our skills-based approach ensures that everyone has an equal opportunity to showcase their abilities, moving beyond traditional hiring metrics.
How Does Vervoe Support Candidates with Disabilities?
By default, Vervoe assessments are designed with accessibility in mind. The questions focus on real-world job-related skills rather than hypothetical scenarios, making them more inclusive—particularly for neurodivergent candidates. Additionally, candidates can use their assistive technologies to complete assessments.
For additional custom adjustments, please follow the processes outlined below.
Inclusive Testing for All Abilities
We understand that traditional testing methods can create challenges for individuals with disabilities. That’s why Vervoe is designed to be compatible with most assistive technologies, including screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other adaptive devices. This ensures a seamless and accessible experience for all users.
Comfort & Convenience
Candidates can complete assessments remotely from their own environment, reducing anxiety and enabling them to perform at their best. Since timed assessments can be a barrier, we encourage careful consideration of time constraints to ensure fair opportunities for all candidates.
How to Remove Timers for Candidates Who Need More Time
If your assessment includes timed questions or an overall time limit, you can create an un-timed version for candidates who require additional flexibility.
Steps to remove timers for specific candidates:
- Duplicate the assessment in your platform.
- Remove all timers from the new version.
- Invite candidates who require accommodations to complete the un-timed assessment.
This ensures that candidates are evaluated based on their skills and abilities, rather than their ability to complete tasks under strict time constraints.
Inclusive Question Design
Our assessments use real-world work samples rather than traditional interview questions. This approach ensures that:
- Candidates are assessed on practical skills rather than past experiences.
- They don’t have to imagine hypothetical scenarios, which can be challenging for some individuals.
- The assessment reflects actual job responsibilities, providing a more accurate measure of capabilities.
- Allow candidates to demonstrate their skills with their disability.
By focusing on skills over resumes, Vervoe helps employers identify talent that might otherwise be overlooked while enabling all candidates to compete on a level playing field.
Machine Learning for Fair Grading
Vervoe’s AI-powered grading focuses on the content and quality of responses, not personal characteristics. Our system:
- Evaluates how candidates approach problem-solving and the quality of their answers.
- Does not have access to a candidate’s disability status or other personally identifiable information.
- For video and audio responses, grades based on transcribed content rather than factors like tone, accent, or pitch—ensuring a fair assessment process.
Over time, optimisation allows employers to refine grading criteria, helping the machine learning model adapt to what "good" looks like based on real hiring preferences without bias.
