This isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Vervoe’s models are multi-layered, tailored to each role, and don’t rely on specific question types or answer formats.
How Vervoe’s AI Works
Our AI scoring combines three powerful models to generate accurate candidate predictions:
1. The How Model
Looks at how a candidate interacts with the assessment.
Analyses behaviour such as:
- Time taken to answer
- Spelling and grammar
- Editing patterns (e.g. frequent changes)
- Copy/paste activity
⚠️ There are no 'good' or 'bad' behaviours—the model simply finds patterns that correlate with higher or lower scores for your specific roles.
2. The What Model
Focuses on what the candidate says. Using natural language processing (NLP), it compares their answer to your sample of a strong response.
Looks at elements like:
- Keywords and terminology
- Sentence structure and clarity
- Sentiment
🎙️ For audio/video responses, the AI reviews transcripts—not tone of voice or facial expressions.
3. The Preferences Model
Adapts to your unique scoring style. You train this model by grading a diverse group of responses.
What happens:
- You score high, mid, and low-quality answers.
- The model learns what you prioritise (tone, accuracy, depth, etc.).
- It fills in the gaps and predicts scores for all remaining candidates.
🤖 How much you grade is up to you. Each answer you score helps the model improve and predict scores for the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
What does the AI score predict?
It predicts how you would score a candidate based on how you've graded others.
How accurate is it?
The AI starts at 83% accuracy when predicting top performers, improving with more use and training.
What about bias?
We actively mitigate bias:
- No use of names, gender, or demographics
- Strictly analyses behaviour and responses
- Bias monitoring flags keyword-based bias in training data
When do I see the AI score?
- After a candidate submits, the AI score appears in minutes.
- Your manual score appears once you grade all responses.
- If you don’t grade manually, the AI score is used.
How are candidates sorted?
Candidates are ranked from highest to lowest score:
- Manual scores take priority if available
- AI scores are shown when manual scoring is not provided
Can I turn AI off?
Yes, AI is optional and flexible:
- Disable AI grading for certain questions
- Manually score as usual
- Use AI as a guide only
📌 If AI is turned off for a question, it won’t be scored until you grade it.
Summary
Vervoe’s AI is your sidekick, not your substitute. It learns from your scoring patterns and candidate behaviour to highlight top performers—without introducing bias or locking you into a rigid system.
