We recommend using a Google Chrome browser if you need to record an answer. Also, double check that you do not have any applications or extensions running in the background that may be using or disabling your camera and microphone.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that you should try to get your audio or video working:
- Use the right device and browser. You can either use an external webcam that can be connected to your desktop device or you would need to use a phone that has a camera built in. We recommend using an updated desktop device on a Google Chrome browser for optimal performance. To ensure that your device and system are running on the latest software please check your system settings and download any necessary updates first.
- Test your equipment and internet connection prior to starting. You will be given the opportunity to test your microphone and camera before starting your interview. To test your equipment select view interview and follow the instructions for enabling your camera and microphone.
Some employers make testing your equipment mandatory before you can access the interview. If this is the case, you MUST complete the equipment test before you have the option to start the interview. If you do not complete the equipment check, you will continue to be brought back to the assessment dashboard until you proceed to follow the steps to test your equipment.
- Clearing your browser cache and history. Make sure to close all the tabs in the browser after you clear cache and then reopen your browser and log back in
- Double check that you do not have any applications or extensions running on your browser that may be using or disabling your camera and microphone. Try using a private browser session on an incognito window to access the interview
If your issue still persists after trying the above steps, it may be a local issue on your device. We then recommend trying to use another device to record.
