The score distribution in the Account Insights displays the variance of scores across the assessments within your account. For a "normally distributed score," as reflected by the green graph, the majority of candidates should score in the middle range of the assessment, around 50-60%. This indicates that the assessment is balanced and effectively differentiates candidates based on their skills, as it identifies a clear middle ground while also highlighting high and low performers.
For more entry-level assessments, you may notice a left-skewed distribution, with the majority of scores falling outside the green peak, typically around 60-70%. This is expected given the difficulty level of the assessment. Entry-level assessments tend to have more candidates scoring higher because the questions are generally 'easier,' as illustrated in the graph below.
If your assessment distribution still follows the pattern of a normal distribution curve it is performing well and providing variance between the low, middle, and high performers.
If your score ranges appear random, as shown in the graph below, it is recommended to review your individual assessment insights to identify which assessments may need optimization to achieve a more normal distribution. This could involve increasing the difficulty by adding more complex questions or reducing the number of multiple-choice questions if there are too many in the assessment.
